An example of an enterprise that faces challenges is the hotel business. Competition among rival hotels is stiff most of the time and managers have to rise to the occasion. The NH hotels are an outstanding example of hotels experiencing challenges. Competition from other chain hotels like Grupo Sol and Grupo HUSA is stiff and threatening the success of NH hotels. The managers are also too busy running the hotel to think of inventing ways to improve the way the hotels operate. Another problem is inadequate funds to carry out marketing. The management of NH hotels has to consider a number of strategies in order to deal with the pressure of the hotel business.
Marketing strategy
Marketing is a very critical factor in the success of a hotel business. The managers of NH hotels should ensure the availability of funds for marketing purposes. The company should always have a budget set aside for marketing. Marketing techniques like Advertisements, use of catalogues, and salespersons are effective marketing techniques. The hotels should provide low accommodation rates at particular seasons to attract customers. Giving discounts to subsidize the prices especially for customers that come in large groups is another method to increase customers in the business. The managers should ensure that the marketing techniques used place them in a better position than the other competing firms. Proper marketing provides full bookings at most times of the year, and the profit returns then increase significantly.
Personnel
The employees in the hotel business determine its success depending on how they conduct themselves. The managers should ensure the hiring of appropriately motivated and disciplined persons. They should work hard towards raising the hotel to higher standards, and the drive should come from within them. The management team should formulate a training program that every employee must successfully go through. The program should train in the way the employees should conduct themselves and perform tasks as well. The managers should do the training as well. The management team should also undergo thorough training in becoming better and more efficient managers. A disciplined and hardworking personnel body ensures that the business runs smoothly and efficiently.
