Thoughts play a vital role in the lives of human beings. Thought is thinking about or considering something set of ideas or a particular subject. Human thoughts are significant in the use of the conscious and subconscious mind in the process of cognition. Through thinking process, human beings understand their internal and external environment. It is thoughts that help human beings to abide by the principles required by the society. Human beings need the thoughts in their day-to-day life for decision.
First, human thoughts are vital in human cognition. Cognition involves the use of the conscious and subconscious mind to develop analytic skills and memory. According to Christoff, Gordon and Smith (2011) cognition facilitates creative and goal-oriented thoughts by enhancing the results of the thinking process. Human cognition plays a role in recognition, planning and recalling information. Cognition also facilitates creative thought (Christoff, Gordon & Smith, 2011). Also, cognition appears to benefit the process of the decision-making process, particularly in complex decisions. It is almost impossible for a human being to live without thoughts. Human cognition benefits significantly from the thought process.
Second, through thoughts, human beings can understand their internal and external environment. For human beings interacts properly with the ecosystem, human beings must understand the internal and external environment. Kahneman (2013) notes that human beings connect with the dynamics of the internal and external environment through the help of human thoughts. The internal environment comprises of objects that surround a person, and the external environment involves human interactions with the environment. Human thoughts enable a human being to make decisions that affect the environments to ensure their survival. The thought process is significant in human survival as it assist human beings to make choices. Thoughts facilitate the human understanding of the internal and external environment that enables humans to interact with the ecosystem.
Third, thoughts are useful in helping human beings abide by the principles required by the society. The society requires that human beings abide by given sets of principals. The society expects human beings to think about their actions to live by such rules. Human beings can co-exist and solve challenges that they face through ideas. The thought process that leads to the development of ideas may assume a collective approach, or may occur at the individual level. For human beings to solve issues in their life successfully depends on their reasonability. This may explain why people with poor reasoning capacity make poor decisions.
