Media and Celebrity
Being famous is having a widespread reputation where one is widely known by a large number of people. Famous people are mostly regarded to have the ability to influence a person's life, and this makes them role models. It makes them live a double life, public and a private one and in their day to day activities they are subjected to media information. It is obvious that such media life can ruin or build their reputation. People tend to forget the fact that celebrities are also human and not extraordinary people. This happens when the media invade their private life with the aim of letting people know who they are or how they go about their private life behind the fame and the eyes of the public. Invasion of the privacy may result into positive or negative side effects (Beck, 2012). 'The positive side is that the general public gets to see and learn more about them' .This makes them relate with and understand them in a deeper human perspective without judging them, based on what they hear or read about the celebrities("Confirmed Showbiz Spy," n.d., para. 1). The negative side is that some famous renowned people want to separate the private and the celebrity life; this is because they do not want to subject their family into their public life. Famous people serve as role models in the modern society. They have the power to act as the voice of the people, 'therefore' subjecting them with' a reputation to carry and live. Acting as the role model to younger people is not easy and comes with the increased amount of responsibility considering what they are surrounded and exposed to ("Confirmed Showbiz Spy," n.d., para. 5). Therefore the media should uphold and support them in what they do and not what their personal life is like. The younger generation is always brought up by what their role model live by, and the media should also control what they give to them inform of details. Instead, they should filter the information and give not so much beyond the set levels. Fame comes with a price that celebrities have to pay, and this come in terms of their lifestyle. Every single person wants to better his life and make it more comfortable from which, they grow around. Most of the famous people tend to live double lifestyle; the spotlight and the behind the light life. The spotlight life is what people are opened to and what they see and this life may raise complexity in the eye of the public because it fills them with ideas and expectations of how to live famous life. Bringing about a situation where they do not fully understand the behind the spotlight light life and that the person they are used to seeing is a brand whose has to live like that in order to set the standard and add value to life. Therefore, if the media change the view in which people see them they will be killing a dream and opening room for questions (Beck, 2012). In conclusion, being a celebrity should not be overrated and misunderstood. It should be a way that one earns a living and supports his or her family. The media scrutiny on the celebrities' private lives should be based on closed media, for them to feel comfortable and have a pressure...
