It’s okay to be wrong
Being wrong is part and parcel of the human process. An unanswered question makes one yearn for answers, and this leads to searching for knowledge. As such, individuals can move on to other important areas. The concept of being wrong may, however, have some bad lessons to some individuals. Such misconceptions imply that lack of mistakes is the only way to make it in life and that the people are lazy and irresponsible if they get things wrong. As such, this leads to perfectionism making people freak out of the possibility that they are wrong. It also leads to the behavior of people always insisting on being right due to the belief that getting something wrong is an indication of something wrong with them. The result of such misconception is a series of unfortunate assumptions such as ignorance, idiocy, and evil deeds. People ought to step out of the tiny, crowded space of rightness and realize that it’s okay to be wrong (Schulz, 2011).
To most people, being wrong makes them feel shameful, weak and inferior. They go to the extent of covering up mistakes and blaming other people or refuting that such mistake ever happened. On the contrary, being wrong is normal and only provides the opportunity to self-reevaluate and move in a more positive direction (Ford, 2008). It’s also a chance to gain knowledge so as to avert similar mistakes in the future. Agreeably, mistakes are a part of human nature to comprehend the environment. A flexible mind is always able to learn new things, accept different points of view and find areas of improvement.
