Code of Ethics for Customer Service in a Fast Food Restaurant Chain
For this Fast Food Industry, there are ethical codes that should be applied in business. When drafting a Code of Ethics, several things that have to be dealt with: the nature of the business, rules that deal with self-dealing, theft of property, conflict of interests, and language application (Fox & Vorley 33). Formal ethics codes are common in the Fast Foods Industry, but are typically used at the corporate levels. Such rules govern the situations for top-ranking executives such as conflicts of interests, gift giving, or insider trading. These are absent in fast food restaurant chains.
When there is the absence of formal ethical codes, several general rules do exist for the persons in the Fast Foods Industry (Fox & Vorley 40). For customer service in the Fast Food Industry, there are several regulations and rules applying to the business operations. The first one is professional integrity. In the fast food industry, business owners and the employees are expected to behave and conduct themselves in a positive manner reflecting the foundations of the business. Maintaining high integrity level improves professionalism in the customer service industry.
The second rule is in improving customer service. It is the duty of the industrial players to strive in improving the quality of services delivered to the organization's customers. It is also necessary to improve the skill of employees to ensure quality services or value is delivered to the customer. This creates trust in the customers hence helping improve performance of the restaurant chain (Fox & Vorley 49).
