How Education promotes Individual Development and Self-Fulfillment.
Good education is the desire for every family in the world. The world believes that good education should be able to develop a child’s personality and talents to the fullest. Education is perceived as a true reflection of cognitive development and self-fulfillment of a person’s life. It should unleash and develop a child’s potentials, capabilities and interest in every aspect of life. Therefore education in the modern societies should be viewed as a bridge to self-fulfillment which should develop talents and personalities among individuals and make them useful and transform their societies in the future CITATION Jul13 \l 1033 (Jullieflavia, 2013).
Education creates and develops high self-esteem in an individual. It can be used as a tool to eliminate fear and shyness in an individual, create courage and confidence in approaching life issues CITATION Rob15 \l 1033 (Robert, 2015). Individuals should accept that making mistakes when learning is normal. Therefore they should not be mocked or laughed at but should be guided by giving them the right direction which will help unmask the hidden abilities and develop them fully. They should be given an assurance that mistakes are accepted and the only avenue towards discovering oneself.
Teachers play a great part in ensuring that children develop fully when learning. They help the learner to discover and develop various talents and personalities either in school or outside the school. Teaching process should not be viewed as the role of teachers only but should involve parents, communities and the government in ensuring that the process is going on well. For example during the co-curricular activities like playing football or athletics, children may show various abilities. It’s the responsibility of the teacher to note this ability and help the child to nurture and develop this talent fully. Through doing this, we will be promoting education to fulfill its role in promoting individual development and self-fulfillment. Good education system in any country is the key to economic growth and development. A country‘s prosperity and development depends on how well the education systems are. Therefore education should be viewed as a vehicle of social change and development in the society.
For the education sector to fulfill its role we should consider many parameters. First we should check our education systems and see whether they are imparting the right knowledge and skills to individual. We should understand that the world and the level of technology are improving and therefore, necessary reforms should be enhanced in education sector to march the level of technology. To succeed this, a lot of investments should be made towards the education systems. We should show our commitments toward achieving good education system which is accessible to everybody as one of the millennium goals as outlined by the United Nations.
