Students graduating from various learning institutions must depict knowledge, skills, and competencies essential for college, workplace, and life. This can be attained through giving the students an environment that fosters all aspects of learning. Experimental and work-based learning is an essential approach that should be established in the education system. This is because students not only require the knowledge from learning institutions, but also the aspect of enacting them when it comes to real work situations. State policymakers have the mandate of ensuring the education being achieved by the students in various learning institutions is coherent to the needs of the society. It is imperative to note that education should address the various challenges that the society is facing so that it stands out relevant. For instance, enhancing student learning abilities should be achieved through fostering them into practical learning and engaging them with the communities. It is imperative to note that majority of the students attain education from college and universities and consider venturing into different responsibilities or jobs in the society because the knowledge gained in schoo do not address the immediate issues in their societies (Star, 2016). The educational sector in the United States is facing the challenge of standard education because of the undesirable curriculum. It is imperative to note that the core value of the society is to enact education and skills that address the various problems facing the society. This is a value that the education sector meets at the minimum levels. Many students end up in irrelevant jobs and roles in the workplace because of undertaking courses that are not in line with the challenges their communities are facing (Cheng & Cheung, 2016). The Common Core State Standards was a common approach in improving the education sector of the United States, however many states have abandoned it. It is imperative to note that the Common Core approach had a considerable approach, in that, the core purpose was to engage education with the society and set the standards that would be recognized in the country in order to ensure competence among students and education stakeholders. Moreover, politicians have long mentioned education in their speeches with less concern when they come into power. It is imperative to note that the declining education standards are attributed to poor leadership and failure to implement policies that are geared towards facilitating quality learning.
