Women in the Middle East go through many hardships and often deprived of their rights to education. The women battle against the cultural discrimination against women. The men are more favored in this community than the women are. Most of the women drop out of the school to go and are married off. Besides, the parents look at men as important as they look at the men in the community. For instance, when parents are to choose between the women and men concerning education, they prefer men. Moreover, the violence in the community affects women more than men. The prevalent fights in the community put men to be better adapted to the environment than the women. Furthermore, the women teachers are less to encourage the women in education. The Middle East poverty condition is a factor that adds to the discrimination of women in education. Thus, the women education in the Middle East discriminates against the women.
The culture of the Middle East community prefers that women stay at home and take care of the family. Any advancement on education is unnecessary. Furthermore, the women place is to give birth and care for the children. On other hand, the men are supposed to provide the family with food and daily income earner. Thus, the men should work so that they provide for their families. This is because the women who drop out of school are more than men in this region are (Keddie, 2007). The women drop out of school in the Middle East for training by their parents on home duties. Hence, they are to be effective wives in their homes. Moreover, they drop out of school to help domestic and agricultural chores in their families (Keddie, 2007). Thus, these duties curtail the women education in the Middle East.
The prevalent violence in this community affects women education in the Middle East. Many cases of bombings and fittings normally affect these regions. The women do not adapt to these conditions. Moreover, they cannot fight or run in case there are attacks on their school. The men on the other hand are better adapted to these conditions as they can be able to defend themselves and run incase of any attacks. These conditions make the parents feel secured when the men go to school than the women. Moreover, the men know how to handle guns and weapons at a tender age than the women since they are to provide security to the community. Thus, the women cannot get the similar education that the men get in this community. Moreover, numerous vices against women such as sexual violence and female genital mutilation affect the education women (Keddie, 2007). Therefore, this is neglect on the women’s right to education.
Early marriages among the girls lead to stoppage of women on their education. There are reported research findings that indicate that women in this community are married off early than their counterparts in the west. This phenomenon has a cultural backing among the Islamic communities. Being that they are to take care of their families, early marriages stops them from continues with their education. To make the matters worse, the young primary school kids are married off. Furthermore, the Islamic culture discriminate women in many points. For instance, in terms of clothing, freedom of expression, and so on. Thus, this cultural perception makes the community give the women off for marriage as continual education would give them a voice in the community. Consequently, this reduces the number of women getting education.
In addition, the women’s’ education is adversely affected by the poverty level in the community. The economy of the Middle East region is dependent on the oil reserves (Keddie, 2007). Oil is an expensive commodity. However, the many political fights that rock these areas make the economy of these countries unstable. Thus, life is expensive and quiet hard to manage despite the many sources of wealth available. Nevertheless, the women are not expected to train with an aim of joining these professions, which are left for the men. Therefore, it is a waste of money to educate the women in this community. Further, the cost of education is expensive. Nevertheless, the men continue with the education (Keddie, 2007). Hence, the poverty conditions affects he women education in the middles.
The women schools in the Middle East are not well equipped in terms of resources. Beginning with learning materials to teachers, these schools get no at most care from their governments (Keddie, 2007). In most of the cases, we find that the resources needed for education are lacking in these schools. For instance, chalks, textbooks, writing materials, and reading materials, are not present. This makes the quality of education given to the women to be very low (Keddie, 2007). Therefore, the women cannot compete on the same level with the men having similar certifications.
