Introduction
Walt Disney is reputable since it is one of the largest entertainment companies in the business world. Roy and Walter Disney founded the Disney Brothers Studio in October 1923. The organization's main aim was to impart happiness to families through animated characters. The entertainment company produced Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, which is the only animation to feature in the American Film Institute list. The list comprises of the 100 greatest films in America. In 1955, the Walt Disney Company built a theme park in Anaheim, California. These premises spread over 160 acres. Walt personally supervised the construction of the entertainment firm. The avid smoking nature of Walt Disney led to his death in 1966. Studies indicate that he avoided smoking near children (Carillo et al. 2012). Later in 1971, Roy Disney died after the company had opened another store in Florida.
In 1995, the firm acquired Capital Cities for $19 billion. Another significant transaction in the Walt Disney Company occurred in 2006 when it acquired Pixar from Steve Jobs for $7.4 billion. Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment in 2009 for $4 billion (Carillo et al. 2012). Disney has continued to acquire other entertainment start-ups like Lucas Film in 2012, founded by George Lucas. Disney operates in several countries, including the People's Republic of China, where it constructed a theme park in Shanghai in 2016. While in the foreign nation, the company encounters a unique business environment compared to the domestic market. The paper analyses Walt Disney’s Company operations in China.
