Marketing is the way that an organization, business or companies identifies their customer and interacts with their consumers for mutual benefits of both parties. In additional, Marketing enables the consumer to be familiar with various forms of products that a given company produces (Kerin, 2012, p 31).
Experience is a skill necessary in the job market but cannot be learned in the class. In my last spring term, I worked as marketing internship trainee in a textile company for the duration of three months. In this period, I understood all the process that are involved in manufacturing of a textile product. Through observation, I found out that textile manufacturing company constitutes several segments with each division performing a specific role. For instance, being in marketing segments, our key role was a product promotion and advertisement. In addition, I was enlighted that the cost of production, demand, political state and target population are basic variables that firms uses to set the price of a product.
During this event, I was able to put into practice, most of theories and concept of marketing into practice. Some of the highlights that provided me with vital experience during internship period include; learning how international trade is conducted between different countries. Secondly, I understand different types of silk that the textile company uses as raw material to manufacture finished product. This knowledge enabled me to make a quick reflection of the theory of product development that I had learn't in my class. Furthermore being in marketing, I was able to apply the concept product development, promotion and selling in marketing of textile products. In additional, the finance knowledge that I acquired in the class was of great use when it came to recording all the invoices that I did during the day.
My first week in the company allowed me to learn the mission, vision, and the goal of the company. In my second week, I understood that there were core professionalism and ethics, which were required to improve efficiency and effectiveness of every activity I undertook. It was vital to learn and apply ethics of the workplace that governs the conducts of the worker in the textile company. Ethics ensures the moral behaviors of the company are being observed, and no one goes contrary to them (Kotler, Philip & Keller, 2012, pp 40-45).
To put professionalism into practice, I was responsible for any task delegated to me, in additional, I adopted a positive attitude in everything I did. My professionalism in communicating was potrayed by good communication with my senior, co-work, and clients during marketing.
