Initially, the tools of fake journalism were through broadcast and print media such as television, radio, and newspapers. However, following the emergence of the Internet, fake news has gone a step higher. Social media and digital versions of the broadcast and print media are extensively used by the perpetrators. The objectives of fake news vary significantly. Some are aimed at defaming a person, entity, or an agency while others at helping an individual or organization to gain politically or financially.
