Question 1
The film Martha of the North highlights key issues that can help in understanding the meaning of North for Canada, which includes the story of the first peoples and their relationship with the government. This includes the heritage as well as the need to conserve Canada’s aboriginal communities, as highlighted in the film via the character named Martha Flaherty. The character is portrayed as a child who accompanied her family alongside other First peoples during the relocation by the Canadian government. The relocation was largely political, and increasingly based on false promises that made aboriginal communities from the north of Canada to abandon their heritage and subsequently lose their identity.
The film illustrates a strained relationship between Canada and its indigenous peoples. More so, the film portrays Canada as having lied to the indigenous people when it displaced Inuit group and left it on the fringe of modern-day Canada. The film shows that Canada was intent on moving Inuit families in the far north, which is depicted as a savagely harsh environment for the rather cheerful and hearty group of indigenous people. In essence, the film wants its viewers to understand that Canada wronged Inuit families through disrespecting their heritage as well as identity, even as family and community remained the soul of indigenous populations. It follows that the film depicts an untrustworthy relationship between Canada and its aboriginal communities.

What is more, high-rise suburbs are characterized through dense population that low-rise suburbs cannot match.
