First Year in College
My name is Cooper Baker, this will be my first year since I enrolled in south Seattle college. I was working in assistance as a nurse aid. My life’s dream is to become registered nurse. Helping individuals is my desire and becoming a registered nurse will put me on the front seat to attend to people who require medical services. During my year in south Seattle college, I have experienced some challenges that I believe have sharpened me to become more knowledgeable about what it takes to become a writer. This compilation takes a look the experiences I underwent during my stay in college and the challenges present and how I managed to overcome them.
As I first enrolled as a freshman, I knew what writing a basic essay entailed, I was an average student at best. I knew how to create and structure sentences when writing an essay. Knowing how to read and understand was not a problem as I had acquired the relevant skills in terms of reading and fathoming back in high school. I was mostly confident in taking 10 credits of college but really had no idea what to expect. The first week after joining was overwhelming to say the least, the workload was more than I had anticipated and working to complete assignments was a hassle not to mention having no idea how to analyze an essay, I was freaking out. As the term progressed I found myself getting accustomed to the workload and with hard work and discipline, getting assignments done on time was never an issue anymore. Managing time wisely became my first priority as this kept me organized, and I was never late on delivering assignment. Most of my English classes were not a walk in the park. I remember one time writing an essay and as I was winding up, creating a suitable conclusion to my essay became proved to be a difficult task, but my instructor later helped me out and showed me how to go about it in the future.
I was never intimidate by my class content or my assignment during my first year, this is because my instructor always gave us enough time to complete our assignments furthermore he made a lot of sample essays readily available for us that helped us nurture our skills in writing magnificent essays. My classmates were also welcoming in that they were kind and often offered assistance where they could and this made my stay in the college all the worthwhile. During the middle of the term, my motivation was at its highest peak, I worked extra determined to achieve my set objectives and as a result it paid off since my grades were improving, things were looking up for me. I oozed confidence and kept assuring myself that if I put in more effort I might just get 4 this term.
My college year has put me in the direction to become a better writer. I now know how to properly describe specific details in my writing and make it interesting and enjoyable to read. The combination of English 100 and 101 has given me more confidence as both a college student and a writer in that it gave me confidence to take up calculated risks in my writing. Before taking 10 credits of English,...
