Introduction
Globally, food waste is one of the far-reaching problems with incredible ethical, financial and environmental costs. Historically, food waste is closely associated with globalization. Starting from farming to bringing food into table there is a lot of wastage at each stage, and fresh food that includes vegetables, fruits and dairy are particularly susceptible. Some of the foods are lost even before crops leave the farms because the majority of the farmers over plant due to adverse weather conditions. Also, in those countries that are considered to be low –income they are disadvantaged on the harvesting technology and eventually result in damaged products or poor yields. Food waste happens all along in the process of the supply chain from retailers, distributors and also in restaurants. Another reason why food is wasted is that most of the supermarkets refuse to stock food substances which are odd-looking.
