Globalization
Globalization refers to the "changes that take place within societies and in the world economy that results from the growing international trade and from the cultural exchanges that take place" (Galateanu, 2012). It dates back to colonial and slavery times during which massive travels, and exchange of people as slaves saw a transfer of both culture and economic products all over the world (Chrisman, 2013). Although there are some negative effects of globalization, evidence shows that globalization has greater benefits attached to it including increased economic investments, improved ties between nations, spread of worldviews, and most importantly transforming the role of the media.
Essentially, globalization has led to expanded markets and increased economic investments. Most business people are able to export their products to other countries in case they produce surpluses in their countries (Galateanu, 2012). This in itself justifies that other expanding the world markets, globalization has enhanced improved ties between nations especially those that do business activities together. Notably, globalization has enhanced the use of technology in the world, where one can easily do shopping overseas at the comfort of their homes, do advertising of products online, and transfer knowledge and skills to other people (Chrisman, 2013). Ideally, globalization has seen transformation of the media and technology in that anything is virtually possible.
However, there are some negative effects of globalization. For instance, Garcia (2013) explains that globalization has shifted powers to those people who take advantage of the poor and neglected people in the society. This argument is biased because on the other globalization is seen to regulate powers of influential individuals and organization in particular industries.
In conclusion, globalization comes at the best time when the world needs to exchange knowledge, ideas, skills, culture, and even labor to ensure holistic development. It has seen expansion of markets and increased investments in additio...
