Introduction
For a long time pregnancy test have been made available in drug stores but surprisingly HIV test is still ignored. HIV test is used to confirm the availability of human Immunodeficiency virus that causes the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome in the human body (Karin, 2012). But why should it be placed at drugs store?
Reasons as to why HIV test should be in drug stores
HIV test in drugs stores plays a critical role in human’s health; therefore, routine checkup is highly recommended (Townsend, 2012). It helps not only in controlling the spread of AIDs but also in preventing new infections. It enables easier accessibility for check up by millions of people who are willing to know their status and provides more people with the opportunity to know their status hence reducing the rate of spread of HIV virus.
On the other hand, it will help in controlling the spread of the disease to other people who are healthy. Sometimes patient living longer distance from Medical Centre finds it tiresome to access HIV test. If the drugs are available in the drug stores, the fear of check up and the expense of travelling to the Medical Centers are minimized too (Donald, 2012). In addition, placing HIV test helps to identify millions of people who are not aware that they are infected and gives them an opportunity to start treatment immediately before their health deteriorates (Woolston, 2014).
Conclusion
The study clearly shows that conducting HIV test in drug stores helps in controlling the HIV infection and the spread of the disease. Others benefits include: less expensive, fast, and efficient, dispel fear and encourage more people to know their status. Therefore, the service should be available in all drugs stores.
