Transformation
A family of seven lives by the hillside, they are isolated that even the federal government doesn't know them. They believe that the government doesn't even have any record of their existence. They don't have school records either birth records. They live their own lives and have their own principles Tara's father though don't value education, he termed it as a way the govern meant uses to rob people but his mother has a different thought. She thinks that education is good for children. Tara’s doesn’t know whether it is important to learn or not to learn since she has never seen an educated child, she obeys her father’s idea and worried about her grandmother’s plan sneaking away with her to take her to school. The family wants to depend on themselves, they believe they can do it on their own. Tara’s father believes that education contains Illuminati teachings. He is always a hard-working father to keep his family stable to avoid depending on the federal government. He wouldn't let the government brainwash his kids in the name of education. Tara's father was always at loggerheads with the feds but despite that, he never gave up on his belief concerning education. The family is becoming divided, they believe education is better and even tries to convince their dad that even the schools are run by churches. Eventually, Tara's family find themselves transforming from what their dad had always made them believe is right. There are five points which showTara's family transformation.
Tara’s mother must learn how to assist with giving birth to babies. He husband thinks it's a Gods calling. Tara's mother finds this a difficult task to her. The would always come back home so pale and translucent after coming from assisting with the childbirth. Tara's mother always finds it awful. Indeed sometimes childbirth is not an easy task. At times even Judy admitted that is a weird experience. Tara's mother feels like quitting the idea of becoming the midwifery. Welcome the idea. Judy her friend is good in midwifery. Something she enjoys doing. She is always accompanied by Tara’s mother though she always doesn’t like doing it herself.
Judy is always accompanied by her daughter Maria. Tara was shocked at her. She was amazed to see Maria. She has never seen somebody who has never gone to a school like her. Maria is eager to learn. She is not distracted during her mother’s lessons. The horrific experience at the birth shocked her. The sight of blood was something she couldn’t withstand. ‘’I can’t do it’’, she shouted at her husband, when he arrived home one evening. This is a vivid indication that Tara’s mother does not like being a midwife. She doesn’t even want to see how the babies are being borne. Judy can be a midwife but not her.
Tara's dad tries to convince her. After all the whole idea was his. the term is as a calling from the lord. He believes that sometimes God asks for hard things. Tara's mother even though hate the idea but her husband thinks Gods calling must be fulfilled. He sees this opportunity of being self-reliance. They don't want to depend on the government. Tara’s mother though accepts the idea of going to the hospital even though her husband doesn't like being associated with any government institution. His children are not in any way found in a government record. They were borne at home, neither do they go to school. ‘’You need to deliver a baby alone’’ Tara’s dad insisted t on her wife to help deliver a baby alone. It’s Gods will that will bless our family. He insists that his wife being a midwife is a blessing to his family. ‘I can't be a midwife' 'she always insisted. Who could hire me when Judy is available? Things take a new turn when Judy finds a new job in Wyoming. Maria breaks the news. Now it's obvious that Tara's mother would be the next midwife. Yes, its time she takes over. Tara's could imagine her role when the mother takes over, the midwives daughter. When Judy left, she had no choice but to become the next midwife the land. Women with swollen legs start coming to the house and beg Tara's mother to help them deliver a baby. She had no choice. Yes, she must accept the role of being a midwife, the transformation she never likes in her life, but now she is the only one to help.
Tara’s mother is now a midwife. She has accepted the role. She is also a teacher now. She conducts prenatal exams and prescribed herbs which help in delivery. She wants to transform things in midwifery. She wants to do things different from Judy. She now teaches about blood pressure, what to apply when there is a case of premature contraction, ginger helps in supply of oxygen. Tara admits that her mother being a midwife transformed her a lot. She stopped wearing makeup and never apologizes for not wearing makeup. Tara feels her mother has changed. She used to put makeup and always apologizes when she doesn't make, but that never happens. Midwifery though is not legal but accepted. Women experiencing low risk-pregnancy were comfortable under midwives than care provided with doctors
Tara's mother now charges money on her services. She charges five hundred dollars, for delivery. This is another way of being a midwife transform her life. She now has money. Yes, the family needs the money. Her husband
