Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) is a known English philosopher of the time. A political radical who is mostly known of his moral theory. Bentham wrote widely on the philosophy of law, spending his life critiquing the e law and agitating legal reforms. The Panopticon is a correctional building invented by the Jeremy Bentham in the last half of 18th century. The plan allows a warden to observe all prisoners of an institution without the inmates’ knowledge. Bentham conceived the plan as appropriate to other institutions such as asylums Bentham conceived the basic plan as being equally applicable to asylums, hospitals and schools, but put up more efforts in setting up developing a plan for a Panopticon prison, and it is the prison that brought up the whole term.
