Bilingual education pidgins versus Creole languages
Creole speakers experience some educational disadvantages in schools that teach using the standard language of their region. By definition, pidgins is a language only as a second language whereas research on Creole English demonstrates that it applies discourse strategies and participation structures, which increase reading achievement and development of standard English.
