The implications of postmodern technology, as well as internet technologies, have led to shifts in world policies. In that case, the world has to adapt to the information age. The implications of the internet are such that the availability of information is at a hitherto unheralded availability level. In the implications that ensue, the museum is finding itself in a culture shock. Most people do not move to places to find information that they can find readily on the internet. In that case, the museum runs a risk of being obsolete in this issue. The problem is that museums represent information regarding past eons while the internet is a colossal store of current and past information. The museum contains information static and conservative information based on historical happenings unlike the internet that contains up-to-date information from across the world. Internet information is refreshed and edited frequently.
Museums need to adapt to the internet and postmodern era in order to remain relevant. Museums have had to consider this challenge in the ensuing race for relevance. In the past, the museum had a specific niche of all aspects. The problem that changed the paradigm was the entry of the internet in the medieval information category, which has led to current changes. However, Gallery Educators are catching up with the changes happening on the postcolonial era. Galleries are places where the society is literally mirrored. The presence of pieces in the gallery is the triumph of social artistic representation over the fabric of society. The society represents itself in literature and art where art is the tool of art gallery an educator uses in expressing the ideas that mirror society. In the essence of the internet, online sites have had to host galleries. The art gallery educator has to learn how to use, embrace, and learn how to utilize the postmodern technological advances to communicate.
Hosting Art galleries online in virtual worlds is more effective in representing the real world than the physical galleries. As a postcolonial communicator, art gallery educators have to change the values that they adhered to and embrace liberal art in order to keep with the times. In effect, they have to make a total turnaround because of changes in the social dispensation. As communicators in a postmodern era, they have to deal with the issues surrounding obsolescence and temporal significance of art pieces in their gallery.
