Introduction
Communication can be done in several ways (Rio, 2009). The efficiency of the method that we use to pass a message is dependent on the channel that we have used. Traditionally, text messages, calls and the use of internet are used to pass messages from one person to the other. Nowadays, as technology advances, new methods of communication have been developed. Use of music is one of those developments. Music is more than a hobby, it’s a passion for creating something new and helps connect people to each other in a deeper way than normal communication can (Rio, 2009).
Music and Connection of People
Music uses a universal language that can be understood by everyone. In that case, it enables everyone to relate well with the surrounding environment. Unlike other channels of communication that have been mentioned above, music enables a person to participate actively through listening and participation. In that way, a person will be able to establish valuable relationships with others. By participating in music, people get a special time for intellectual development. When a person plays or listens to music, the person will be able to attain connection goals such as socialization and communication (Kurtz, 2007).
There are various activities that take place when playing music. We sing, move and dance. All this activities are interactive in nature and they are vital for the improvement of our lives. In fact, interacting with others in the music environment makes a difference that when we chat in a cyber. Music engages more audience too. Unlike communication channels such as texts where limited persons are engaged, music brings together people from different regions (Kurtz, 2007).
Music Is a Source of Inspiration
All forms of music carry some message. The messages are inspirational in nature. People have obtained help in music in various ways. When music is inspiring, we say it has ‘moved us'. Our cognitive relation with music existed a long time ago. This fact has been documented by different researchers in psychology and history. It has been argued that music can glean emotion from a person. To proof this, everyone prefers music that assumes a certain speed, smoothness and rhythm. That is why there are different genres in music (Rio, 2009). A person can enjoy listening to hip hop music than classic music. In that way, the individual may be inspired to carry out certain activities by passing him messages using hip hop tones (Rio, 2009).
Therapeutic Capabilities of Music
Music can be therapeutic. There is scientific documentation that back up the healing capabilities of music. In 2013, Daniel Levitin, produced various evidences to proof this.
In one study, Levitin and his team of researchers confirmed that music can aid in the elimination of anxiety in people who have tension. An in-depth study revealed that our brains have the ability to respond to music. The brain produces substances called dopamine that enables us to stay happy. That is why soft music played in hospitals.
