Many young people enjoy playing video games, but doing so may have negative
effects on their health. Most young people spends at least half an hour a day playing video games, and some even spend their entire day engaging in this video games, believing that this is the best means of relaxation.  According to Marlou, “aggressive and violent video games on teenagers may connect violence to their daily lives and pursue it as a solution in real life solutions” (Poppelaars, 2018). Most of the teenagers bring to the reality what they normal get from the violent video games. Children always choose to play violent games such as killer or car thieves. In this essay I will argue that despite how young people are, when they spend time playing video games, regardless of their popularity and age, it has some physical and mental negative impacts on themselves and their families. This is because spending a lot of time on screens affects the eyesight and causes mental illness.
Taking longer time playing video games can affect someone’s eyesight. According to Bedinghaus in his article, “Playing Video Games May Cause Eyestrain,” “Extensive viewing of the game screen can lead to eye discomfort, fatigue, blurry vision and headaches”(Bedinghaus, 2012). This is a real life situation since I have witnessed one of my cousins who used to spend most of his time in front of the screen watching videos or playing video games and now he is wearing glasses. When young people immerse themselves in their video games, it is very easy for them to lose track of time and invest too much of their day in their virtual world. When people spend such a large part of their day watching a bright screen, it can have negative effects on their eyes. One gamer mentioned that whenever he plays for a long time, his eyes hurt. In extreme cases, people even experience a temporary loss of vision. Scientists are still investigating the long-term effects that video games on players' vision.
An additional reason that young people should not spend so much time playing video games is that it could have a negative impact on their mental health. According to Scott in his article “Understanding the Effects of Violent Video Games on Violent Crime” the author mention’s that “As many of best-selling games contain hyper-realistic violence, many researchers and policymakers have concluded that violent games cause violent behaviors” (Cunningham, 2013). This is because it is impossible for a teenager to fight another competitor while playing the game so he decides to do it in real life. This very unreasonable for someone to showcase what they see on violent video games and apply it in other human beings. There was a boy who spent his all day playing video games. One time while doing so, his mother came into his room to tell him to stop, but he just ignored her. His mother was so angry that she turned off the power for the computer. The boy was so mad at his mother that he went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and then killed his mother. After the police arrived, he realized it was his fault but it was already too late. From this news story, it tells us that spending a long time while play video games can make people extremely aggressive and behave the wrong way. While this is just one example, many teenagers feel high levels of anger, jealousy, and rage when playing video games, which can otherwise be easily avoided.
Many news stories show that young people can’t control themselves when they spend a long time playing video games. There have been many cases were teenagers fight because of the influence they acquire while playing the violent video games. According to Christopher article, “video games influences aggression and mental health of children” (Ferguson, 2015).  Addiction to video games is one of the major problems which affect the mental health of the teenager. There was a teenager who was addicted to these games. One day while he was playing, his mother told him to come to eat, but he didn’t hear it. His mother called him many times afterward, but he just ignored her. Finally, he began to eat with his mother but then killed her mother because he thought he was still in the game and that she was his enemy. Afterwards, his friends came to his house and talked to him, and he finally realized that this was real life. It is terrible that video games can cause someone’s death. This news story is a proof that sometimes video games can change young people's minds and can make them do thi...
