Nutrition and Weight Status
A strong science that focuses on healthy body weight maintenance and the merits of taking a healthful diet is reflected in the 2020 healthy people objectives. According to these objectives, individual behaviors should be addressed through determinations to alter weight and diet. Efforts should also be put in surroundings and policies that support the above behaviors. These environments include worksites, schools, organizations such as those of health care, the community, etc.
Rationale For topic Selection
The vital aspects of a person's well-being and general health are; fit body mass, somatic activity, and a good nutrition. Diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and stroke are staid health conditions whose risk of infection can be decreased by taking a good diet, participating in physical activities, and maintaining a reasonable body weight.
Targeted age Groups
The targeted age group is adults between the age of eighteen and forty-nine years. These people, in a year they gain around one to two pounds. Therefore they should prioritize on how to stop and prevent weight gain. Weight gain, while aging, puts one at a greater risk of developing some chronic diseases.
Epidemiological factors
Men and women of middle age who, after the age of 20 years, gain eleven to twelve pounds of weight are three times more likely to develop chronic diseases such as diabetes, gallstones, and high blood pressure compared to those that gain less than five pounds after twenty years. Ladies are also at the risk of suffering from postmenopausal breast cancer even after reaching menopause. The reasons as to why the impacts of poor nutrition and weight are so prevalent to this age group include the following;
Genes; some people gain weight easily, or they are able to stock fat around the midsection as a result of genetic predisposition. The genetic destiny of genes can be overcome by being active, taking a healthy diet, and letting go of unhealthy activities such as drinking of soda.
Lack of Physical activities; physical activities have numerous benefits to the health of an individual. It reduces the risk of attack by various chronic diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, etc. These activities are so instrumental in health and control of weight.
Sleep; adults and children who sleep for a very short time tend to gain more weight as opposed to those who have enough time to sleep. This is because of the following: people who don’t have enough sleep may find it too difficult to engage in an exercise that helps reduce weight through the burning of calories.
