PLANET EARTH AND THE PEOPLE
The planet earth is the fifth largest planet in the solar system. It is the only planet in the solar system known to support life. The planet is a home for many species including many plants, animals, and humans. The planet composes of different types of soil, water, gases, and minerals. The earth consists of seven continents with different kinds of people. The human population continues to rise in a high rate, currently, the earth holds around 5.7 billion people. The high growth in population of humans is highly seen in the less developed countries.
According to a recent survey taken by the United Nations, with the high rise in population, the earth may not be able to support the people in the next century. There are no known numbers of the people that the earth can support but scientists are trying to figure it out. The capacity of the earth depends on various aspects: water, food, environment, climate, values, and human choices. (Cohen, 1995)
The earth is charging every day, there are many aspects and occurrence leading to its charge. Global warming is the rise of temperature and ocean level leading to climate change. It is one major aspect that is destroying the earth and affecting the capacity of people the earth can hold. Global warming is affecting different locations in different ways; it is causing acidic rains, and severe heat. (Albert & Gore, 2006)
If there is a high birth rate and low death rate in the earth, according to scientists, there will be overpopulation in the earth. The most populated continents on earth are incapable of supporting the human population. According to Knopf (2002), man is pushing the earth to its limit. Human beings and their activities are the main causes the destructions to the earth. (Knopf, 2002)
