Evidence based nursing can be defined as the practice that integrates investigation derived facts to shield the patient’s interest by upholding the highest quality of nursing service. It is vital to differentiate this concept from research application. Research utilization only uses the results of research projects on a less rigorous measure than does the evidence-based nursing. Evidence-based nursing uses data to provide the best quality of service as recommended by the best and the most recent research findings (Grimmer et al., 2014). An article by Spector, Li and Kenward titled Evidence-based nursing education for regulation emphasizes on the importance of teaching evidence-based nursing principles for applications in regulation of the nursing practice. The paper shows how evidence based nursing principles can be implemented and their effect on both the patient health and the financial health as discussed below.
One of the benefits that a patient accrues from evidence based nursing is quality nursing service. Evidence based nursing advocates for improved quality of service. Improvement of quality involves the identification risks and subsequent designing of the safety practices. In this view, there is integration of research, clinical professionalism and patient values resulting in optimization of the nursing care. This integration creates a platform for information sharing among various health professionals. Participation of different health professionals in nursing practice, also, optimizes the uses of financial resources. This optimization allows the health provider to allocate resources to different areas of health service based on the requirements (Graverholt et al., 2014). As a result the nursing practice runs smoothly without unprecedented shortages of financial resource.
Employment of evidence based nursing helps achieve the best outcomes in terms of both the patient health and the financial resources (Weng et al., 2013). The patient’s health gets impacted via improved quality of care as well as via the participation of different health professionals. Additionally, evidence based nursing help save and optimize the financial resources in the nursing practice.
