Scenic designer works hand in hand with the director as well as other play designers to create a general visual concept for development of the stage environment. According to Bordwell (1997), scenic designer is involved with every arrangement that is seen in the framing like lighting and props alongside developing the basic environment for a theatre filming. My roles as a scenic designer will be to come up with a complete set of the general design drawings that will also involve the fundamental ground plan demonstrating the entire stationary scenic elements. I will also provide a composite ground set that demonstrate any moving substance and show the onstage as well as storage SCENE locations. Another aspect that I will incorporate in this design is the front elevations for each of the scenic element as well as some extra sections of units as needed (Spierling, 2002).
Scenery designer should combine and incorporate the scenery together with elements of design for production. These elements include special effects, costumes, sounds, staging needs, lights as well s the actors themselves. Each of these elements has its own special effect on the overall scene of production. As we have note above, scenery designer laid the lays the general as well as specific ground and section plan. Therefore, without full comprehension of integrating these elements of design, he will not be able to accomplish his task appropriately. For instance, he won’t be able to create the intended mood by using special effects as an element of design. In the same way, it will be hectic for him to create the mood of the scene if he cannot communicate effectively with the sound designer to create the right environment he intends to. Actors are also important elements in scenery design since the right choice will effectively boost the expected scene.

The scene is the very first thing that audience gets to see when they enter the theatre. The audience can therefore effortlessly tell that the show is going to look like this or that.
The second role of scene design is that it helps differentiate realistic from fantasy. Scenery design enables the audience comprehends whether what they are watching is a play based on nonrealistic elements or whether it is a reality. Another vital reason for scenery design is that it creates the mood as well as the style of the play. It enables the audience comprehend the nature of the play they are about to watch i.e., whether it is a modern times or an ancient time play (Spierling, 2002).
The research made me appreciate the importance of design concept with the director together with other designers for an ultimate successful production. There should be a common concept present in all other design elements to demonstrate that the universe is complete (Larson, 1976).
In this play, ‘a risin in the sun’, the scene design that should be done is ...
