Situational Leadership Relationship behavior leadership style A relationship behavior type of leadership refers to the behavioral approach where the leader tends to focus on motivating employees, satisfaction as well as the general well - being of his or her team members. This leader would be a good team leader and would be effective in a situation that requires leading a group and mediating in any given conflict. This type of leadership helps develop a team given that the leader is concerned with the well fare of all team members (Anzalone, 2012). This leader has good communication skills, and motivation may involve the use of incentives such as bonuses. Task behavior leadership style This is a form of leadership style in which the leader tends to focus on achieving the goals through given tasks. The leader may not be very concerned with the ideas from the employees, but rather on coming up with a step- wise solution that will see them meet their goals. These leaders are majorly in the management position unlike the behavioral form of leadership type of leader who may be a supervisor, who deals directly with the other employees (Daft, 2008)). In this form of leadership, the leader will typically be active in defining roles and tasks needed, planning and organizing structures in place and then monitor progress. Although they may not care much about the employees, they make sure that deadlines are met and that time is well managed. The kind of leader I think I will be Personally, I feel that I would be a relationship behavior type of leader. This is because I love and enjoy the spirit of team work, encouraging others and listening to their ideas and concerns. I believe this is the best way to achieve goals and realize success at the workplace. A relationship behavior style of leadership ensures that the team members are all engaged, and motivated to contribute. Leadership traits Supportive- I am a supportive individual and deliver pleasure in assisting others in challenging situations. This helps in saving time and ensuring that the other person gets to learn from the support provided, and would therefore be in a better position to do a given task by themselves the next time such a challenge occurs. This also tends to motivate others deliver. Good communication skills- I am also good when it comes to communicating with other, which is important in getting along without confusion. Good communication skills have also helped me resolve conflicts and mediate. Moreover, i am also well able to explain and present ideas in addition to listening and contributing to those of others (Charam, 2007). Team player and social- I also love interacting with others, listening and developing relationships that are aimed at working towards a given goals. Integrity -I am also an honest, forthright and candid individual, and treat people with respect and understanding. This is also because of the fact that i would appreciate being treated in the same manner, Confident -To accomplish goals, it requires confidence, which is a trait i posses. Confidence has helped me remain focused and determined to achieve goals that may have appeared challenging, Optimistic and decisive- Being positive is one of my strongest traits. Once i put my mind on a given task, i remain positive to ensure that i remain motivated and encouraged to see it to the end. This also inspires others i work with and motivates them to remain positive and overcome doubt. Moreover, i am also decisive, and never hesitate in making tough calls when necessary. I have been a team leader and had to make important decisions on a variety of issues. However, this requires one to be informed and have the facts (Charam, 2007). Situational leader Due to the fact that there is no single best style of leadership, having a little of both task- oriented and relationship - oriented leadership would help in being a good leader for a variety of situations and leading people in a given team.
