Since time immemorial suicide has been one of the major causes of deaths globally. The World Health Organization (WHO), defines Suicide as the action of intentionally taking away one self's own life. It's usually done out of one's loss of hope that can be from mental disorders. Mental disorder is usually brought about by among other things; depression, over reliance on drugs and other addictive substances, personality disorder and some physical diseases. Going through hard financial times is a key contributor to incidents of suicide. More so, if one is having strained relationships especially with their close relatives and/or friends then, cases of the same can be witnessed. This paper seeks to explore possible methods that can be used to study and research on this contentious topic, suicide. Further the best research designs that can be employed to successfully get the most reliable and credible information on suicides.
Immediately after identifying a research problem, the researcher has to formulate research questions so as to enable him/her get the right data before making an analysis of the answers given. They are the core questions a researcher wants to answer by conducting the research. In a bid to understand suicide as topic the following questions can be used to elicit reactions/responses from the respondents

* What is the number of suicidal cases reported in the last six months?
* What were the possible causes of the suicide to the victim?
Research design
It's a plan that helps researchers to adequately answer the research questions with clearly formulated answers. So as to ensure you get the right answers, one has to understand the correct evidence required to the research questions. Research design entails; data collection tools to be used, analysis and conclusions made from the same. These may include but not limited to; interviews, questionnaires, observation schedules. All these need to be formulated early enough before commencing the actual research so as to maximize chances of getting the correct information.
Research design for question one
In answering this question, a questionnaire can be presented to the relevant authorities dealing with registration of deaths. They can help fill the gaps with the relevant information. More so a little conversation on the trend of reporting these cases can give the researcher some green light of whether there are some suicidal cases that go unreported.
Owing to the sensitivity of the question great care should be taken in giving out this question. Interviews with the deceased's family and friends could be so helpful. Through the interviews the researcher can easily identify the most responsible cause of the suicide. Because of the possibility of multiple factors being responsible, the interview should be kept as open as possible to ensure that the respondents can express themselves fully (Kleespies, Phillip, &Knight,2004-5). More so, the time of the visit to the respondents should be right, it's good also to understand the emotional condition of your respondents. It should not be too soon after the death has occurred nor too long after. If possible, it's good to use distant relatives or friends who have the right information about the same.
