Introduction
Palau is an independent nation situated in the Pacific. It is made up of many Islands from the South Western parts of the Philippines towards the Northern regions of The Pacific Ocean. It is encouraging to note that Palau greatly relies on tourism as its major industry. In addition to that, the Palauan people tend to be highly generous. The level of generosity and kindness in them is such that can never be ignored. In fact, they are always willing to support any foreigner or stranger rather without any fears. This, however, cannot be assumed. They are full of conservatisms, never willing to give up any of their cultures and values. It is only under this grounds that a person can disagree with them and end up in a serious conflict. This is only if a person dares to abuse or degrade their traditions. One might be tempted to conclude that their nature actually contributes to sustaining the tourism industry along the years. In addition to that, these people are liberal minded and devote most of their time in sensible discussions.
In my visit to Palau, I actually faced certain travelling trends which are not common in most nations. To begin with, one may always opt in using an aero plane or rather air transport to access the region. It sounds strange of course since the place is situated along the Pacific Ocean. One might suggest travelling by use of water transport to their advantage. This is possible only that it will be by means of boats which is quite challenging. Travelling by use of aero planes would be the fastest means so to say. It is also supported with the couple of airports including the Palan International Airport which is the universal airport one among others. In addition to that, travelling using certain agencies is possible on a daily basis for instance; flights from Guam to the region are on a daily basis and cost 600 US Dollars.
At Palau, people greatly rely on the US Dollar as the major currency. In addition to that, there is the use of ATM's in the nation, and they are in large numbers, in the country. However, the key credit cards are exempt in Koror which is the major center of business activities. I also noted that there is the availability of Wi-Fi though the connectivity is pretty low. I also realized that the demand for small devices like an electrical adapter. This, however, is pretty discriminative, for example, the travelers from both the Northern and Southern America do not require it. In different perspectives, travelers from Asia and Europe require them, and they must be grounded.
As I was touring in the city of Palau the transport system that were used to maneuver across the towns were really interesting, I found the transport system to be unique. To begin with, a visa is not required for travelers into this region from certain parts. The policy included those who are coming from countries Canada, Australia, Newzealand, The United Kingdom, and the entire European Union. This, however, holds only as long as their travel does not exceed 90 days. In addition to that, travelers from the US require a passport whose validity must have been at least 6 months. Citizens coming from other nations, however, require a visa which should not exceed 30 days after their arrival in the nation. Most of these details are obtained from the Embassy of Palau Travels. Further aids regarding your roaming to their diverse islands will demand a link with their governors. This is at their offices prior to your visit.
Road traveling is also interesting in the region. If a traveler opts to hire a car, then you must be ready to go on slow driving. This is because of the bumps along the roads. This, however, cannot be a boring task because of the beauty of nature, which a traveler cannot miss as he moves from point A to B. The scenery is exquisite and very beautiful. Drivers in Palau drive at the right side of the road just like other nations. However, other cars are driven on the left hand side of the roads in Palau. These cars are made and assembled in Japan. This, therefore, has it that there are no drivers at the center of the roads. In addition to that, they also have few if any travel warnings. This is attributed to the fact that they hardly experience any criminal activities.
I also majored on its history, and it was fairly interesting to know how they attained their independence among other things. To begin with, the people of this nation came from Indonesia. This was after migrating from the latter. It was under the dominion of Spain as one of its territories. This did not take so long since, in the 1899 Spain sold its dominion to Germany. This was after a war between the Spanish and American. Later in the 1914, Japan took control of the entire region while the American Army took dominion over Islands. This only lasted to the Second World War which lasted for more than two months and more than 1200 innocent souls massacred. It is also important to agree to the fact that Palau was a key spot of the war. However, subsequent to the war, Palau was converted to be a member of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. This was under the administration of the US. Later the trust was resolved and a majority of the districts one coalesce State that was Micronesian. However, when this was agreed and affected, Palau, in union with the Marshal Islands turned down the amalgamation in favor of independence that was the day it became an independent state.
I must make a clean breast that living in Palau is quite demanding in terms of expenditure. This could be because Palau is a tourism dependent state. Like any other tourism locality, services must be quite expensive to get. Even, though, I did not tour the place for such a long time, I must state that it was a pretty costly expenditure that I had to conquer for that short duration I toured. For instance, I would on a lower end spend 100 US Dollars each day. This was exclusive of my sleeping expenses which constituted of 50 US Dollars per night. Although it is expensive, I must appreciate the fact that the services are of high quality. I, for example, always enjoyed the luxury of a clean room in the lodging. Most were times when I would never run out of warm water as well as cold from the taps. There was a provision of basic accessories in the same place together with perfect security and tender services from the staff.
I also enjoyed the climate. For the time I was there, I was welcomed by a fair climate, little sun shine and rain. Warmth for the greater part of the day and with that, I was tempted to find out more. From my research, I was informed that the nation majorly experiences a tropical climate. It receives plenty of its rainfall between the month of July nd October. However, the rains fall across the year with an annual average of 3800mm. the region also experiences a mean annual temperature of 28 C. the region hardly faces typhoons like the greater part of the pacific and it has an average humidity of 82% across the year.
The population of the region is quite low. For example, the Islands I researched on, Babelthuap, which is the, largest has around 6000 individuals. The Peleliu Island...
