The United Health Group is a diversified well-being and health organization whose headquarters are in the United States. The organization prides itself as the leading healthcare provider and a champion in helping its customers live healthier lives. The company is focused on introducing services and products that help in improving the personal health of the population and innovative approaches that do promote a healthier population. This paper will describe the United Healthcare organization, its overall readiness to meet the needs of its citizens, strategic plan in regards to nurse staffing, resource management, and network growth, and potential issues that can affect the strategic plan. In addition, the paper will also propose a theory that can be used in supporting the implementation of the strategic plan of this organization.
Organization Description
The United Health Group as a wellbeing and health company was fully incorporated in 2015. Basically, the organization operates through four major segments which include; OptumHealth, OptumRx, OptumInsight, and UnitedHealth. The organization also conducts its day-to-day operations through two platforms; the health services which operates under Optum and health benefits operating under UnitedHealthcare (Editorial, n.d.). United Healthcare does provide wellness and healthcare services to an array of clients and markets. Most individuals that are above 55 years receive care through Medicare and may also receive benefits that are appropriate to older persons. The organization also provides innovative and public health marketplace solutions. The organization is also responsible for providing medical aid to military members, retired persons and their registered families. United Healthcare group is also seeking to expand its services to international markets (United Healthcare Group, 2019).
Optum focuses on aspects such as improving the operational and clinical elements of the system, healthcare delivery, and overall healthcare management. As a leader in healthcare management, optum serves the financial, physical and mental requirements of the organization and its customers. This has made Optum become one of the largest health information company in the world. The company has employed a workforce of about 190,000 workers worldwide. Its services can be accessed in all American states and other 100 nations worldwide (United Healthcare Group, 2019).
Organization’s Overall Readiness
Over the years, the organization has demonstrated its readiness to cater to the citizen's needs for the next decade. The company has formulated some strategic plans that help in confronting the challenges and concerns arising from aspects such as patient satisfaction, nurse staffing, and network growth. However, the company has been through a lot of struggles but this has made the company more stable. The company has also been very keen on adoption and formulation of improved technologies that will help reduce the increasing medical costs and improved care. United Health group plans readiness to provide care to its citizens through health care modernization. The Company is coming up with some advanced solutions that help in building a simpler and high-performing healthcare system that will also cater to the rising needs of the population (United Healthcare Organization, 2019). United Health Group has also been on the forefront in conducting healthcare research and in analyzing policy environments. The organization has also been keen on transforming its pharmacy care services, OptumRX (United Healthcare Organization, 2019). The business is working hard to ensure that every citizen has access to affordable drugs. It has achieved this through collaborations with other organizations and healthcare stakeholders.
