Human Resource Management: Utilizing Workers with Disabilities Name: Institution: After reading the Case 3.1 in managing human resources and specifically a focus on the Walgreens company, I wish to concentrate on how workers with disabilities can be well utilized in an organization. The case focuses on how the persons with disability can be an asset to an organization. The Walgreen company is used as a model of how a company can recruit and maintain a talent of pool of disabled persons, and still remain relevant in the economic space and service delivery, the author of the case also puts a strong message against discriminating persons with disability, since they are in a position to perform task if they are treated well and in the right environment for the performance. As a result of the Walgreens employing persons with disabilities it has a few tangle benefits, it has increased its efficiency in its modes of operation at 20%. The company has also leveraged its image based on its policy of giving a chance of employment to people with disability. The Walgreens has a reputation as a company that is driven, towards providing meaningful chances of jobs and its background is structured in such a way, it provides chances to people with diversified backgrounds. Any organization that tries to accommodate a creed of people that are not greatly accepted by mases, might in the long run become relevant. An amazing reputation on the Walgreen company, it provides a great working environment for the disabled people and it gives them an opportunity in career advancement. The Walgreens has also intangible benefits in the near future, of getting a bigger pool of the persons with disability as part of their employees as a result of the changes in demographic. The rate of disability will increase and getting traditional labour will be a challenge to companies that will not reinvent their structures to fit the persons with disabilities. As a result of the Walgreens mobilizing resources that can enable the persons with disability perform the task, the level of efficiency increased by 20%, I have learned, disability is not inability. If an environment supports people with disability wholly, the level of output can be remarkable.
