Winthrop Discussion Author Name Institution Affiliation Date John Winthrop was an English Puritan lawyer and the founding figure of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. It was one of the main settlements of New England. Another settlement was Plymouth Colony. In 1630, he headed a huge wave of colonists from England. His concepts, ideas, vision, and writing of the colony were better than the concepts introduced by other people during New England's colonial development. Through his work, John Winthrop was able to influence different religious concepts and governments of neighboring areas and colonies. His pattern of images is quite unique and appealing. For instance, one of the images make me understand that people had to work really hard to maintain their reputation and preserve their cultural, traditional, and religious identities in the past. Together, they allowed John Winthrop to present his ideas and visions clearly. Puritans strongly believed in Predestination. This doctrine holds that the ultimate power belongs to God and that He is the creator of the whole uni...
