Article 1: The Parts of America Most Susceptible to Automation’
In the article ‘The Parts of America Most Susceptible to Automation,' Alana Semuels addresses the expectation of the economists in the coming decades where automation will replace millions of American jobs. For instance, in Rust Belt, machines have replaced many workers, and most jobs in the factory have slipped due to offshore production of commodities that require outsourcing of personnel. The economic implication of this article is that the automation is essential for economic growth since machines work faster than the human workers. The outsourced workers also provide labor at cheaper costs that would help the companies to make more profit. The use of machines and outsourcing of employees is in contrary to the political will of the Americans. When many citizens are rendered jobless, it is the responsibility of the federal government to find other ways caring for them.
Article 2: ‘A warning from Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Stephen Hawking’
The article ‘A warning from Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Stephen Hawking’ raises another concern on how jobs are vanishing in America as a result of the replacement of human workers by robot workers. Bill Gates was for the ideas that the robot workers should be taxed just like the human workers. The machines are replacing human labor at an alarming rate, but they do not pay taxes as human workers do. Stephen Hawking passes a warning that the rise in artificial intelligence encroach into job destruction for middle classes leaving people with creative and supervisory jobs. Elon Musk is also concerned about the massive challenges with mass unemployment. It follows the fact that most jobs can be done better by robot workers than human beings.
Article 3: ‘The robot scabs are coming to take your jobs’
Don Howard also stated in the article ‘The robot scabs are coming to take your jobs’ that those who live in developed or rapidly developing will grow old without working because robot workers will take their jobs. In most industries, the artificial intelligence is displacing human workers at a stunning rate. The issue of replacing human workers have a great influence on the wages (West, 2015). The salaries of the people tend to go down with an increase in the number robot employees in the industries. I think the cost of buying and maintaining the machines is high and would affect the economy of the nation.
