Engineering mathematics typically is a branch of applied mathematics that deals with basic formulae and methods of mathematics that aid in engineering and industrial development. Engineering mathematics in many cases is referred to as techno-math which primarily comes about by the engineering statistics derived from mathematical formulae and methods of solution to the field of engineering. The concept of techno-math involves the integration of the concepts of figures in mathematics to the principles of science. Engineering mathematics deals relate to core disciplines such as engineering physics, engineering geology, engineering chemistry and engineering biology alongside other fields of related disciplines involving statistical evaluation (Stroud & Booth, 2013). The context of engineering mathematics largely depends on the motivational drive of engineers to deal with both theoretical and statistical evolutional situations that cover their respective fields of interest such as chemistry and geology.
Therefore, engineering mathematics is an interdisciplinary concept that captures the fundamental principles of mathematics and merges it with the basics of science and related discipline of interest. In history, the basic concept of engineering mathematics originated by consistent statistical evaluation techniques, which were deployed by the scientists and scholars. The incorporation of mathematics with engineering was widely consistent on the fact that potential solutions to eminent problems major laid in the statistical evaluation techniques in the respective fields of science such as physics (Gonthier, 2013). For instance, the consistent evaluation of the principle characteristics of electricity by Faraday targeted mathematical measurement to aid in determining that charges of electricity and how it worked. In the start engineering mathematics consisted of applied analysis, which majorly included differential equations, complex and real analysis of theoretical and statistical data, the approximation theory which widely consisted of asymptotic variation and numerical analysis, potential theory as well as probability and linear algebra.
The fields of mathematics were continuously tried and ultimately lead to the development of Newtonian physics and the mathematical physic of the time. The history of engineering mathematics left a legacy which has aided the development of applied mathematics and engineering related disciplines in respective fields of interest. Teaching and learning of classical mechanics before the 20th century was done applied mathematics, after the 20th century having been fueled by the advancement in the mathematics and engineering disciplines such as fluid mechanics and were taught in engineering and mathematics (Croft & Davison, 2017). However, the advancement in technology and innovation has lead to the development of computational engineering, computational mathematics, and computational science which have made engineering mathematics faster and easier. The development of computational related concepts in the field of statistics has led to the development of high-speed computer components that have made engineering and mathematical concepts easier.
The incorporation of computational analysis strategies has raised the development of engineering statistics and optimization. Engineering mathematics on the levels of ...
