Michelle Obama
Michelle Lavaughn Robinson Obama has been an inspiration to many women globally due to her role as a human rights activist, a career woman, an influencer, philanthropist, a mother, a wife, and the first woman of color to be the first lady in the United States. She accomplished what most political and social rights activists from the 18th century to the 19th century could not. Although Martin Luther's I have a dream speech is commonly used to refer to Barrack Obama's presidency, it correlates with Michelle rising to the white house because, in many ways, she was among the most significant factor in Obama's victory in 2009 and 2012. Michelle grew up in a middle-class African American family in Chicago, Illinois, where she was born to Mariah and Fraser Robinson in 1964 and lived together with her brother Craig (Wife & Lawyer, 2020). Like many families during the reconstruction and later in the 1930s, her father was the family’s breadwinner and worked at the Chicago water plant, and her mother was a homemaker. Michelle traces her roots to South Carolina, where her forefather was born into slavery near Georgetown, where her paternal family lives. However, still, at a young age, Michelle had several challenges, especially her father’s health condition where he had multiple sclerosis, but she had to overcome these challenges, and she was able to graduate from high school and applied to Princeton University (Wife & Lawyer, 2020).
