The atomic bombing by the American government to Japan raised many issues across the world. Those who survived the attack had their own views while the American military also had their different views. Both the policy military consideration and the survivor account believe that the atomic bombing led to the end of the World War 2. It’s after the atomic bombing when the japans emperor announced to surrender. However, the policy military consideration believes that the atomic bombing was necessary for the country as it was meant to save the lives of the American soldiers who were targeted by Japan. (Ham, n.d.).They also believed that the bombing saved the lives of many people in Japan who could have died if the war continued. According to the survivor account, the bombing affected mostly the elderly people, children, and women who could not run for their safety. The survivors thought that the bombing was not necessary because most of the people who died had nothing to do with the war. It was therefore not necessary to kill innocent people while protecting soldiers.
By reading both accounts it complicates the understanding of the past because it’s difficult to know who was right between the American government and the Japan emperor. This is because the policy military consideration shows how it was necessary for the atomic bombing in order to save the lives of many people. It is also difficult to understand why the American government didn’t warn the Japanese of the bombing and the reasons for targeting a specific place.
