The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed on March 2, 1836, in the city of Washington-on-the-Brazos, and is a historical document that officially declared the independence of the Republic of Texas from Mexico during the revolution. The declaration proclaiming the creation of a new state was supported the work of John Locke and Thomas Jefferson. The Republic of Texas has existed as an independent state since 1836, in addition to the current state of Texas, it included parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming. In 1845, the republic was annexed by the United States and ceased to exist a year later. Members of the "Republic of Texas" believe that the territory was illegally annexed by Washington in 1845 and is currently under its occupation.
California Gold Rush - gold mining in California which took place on January 24, 1848, when James W. Marshall found gold near Sutter's sawmill. Once the news of the discovery were spreaded, about 300,000 people came to California from other US states and from abroad. California from a provincial territory, sparsely populated, far from the center and rather unpromising, received the status of a full state of the country, increased its population 6 times, taking in more than 200 thousand people. On its lands, cities such as San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles arose and began to rapidly develop, modern communication routes, road and rail, were built, and seaports appeared.
