The Cold War is the state of political and military tension that arose immediately after the Second World War between the two blocks that is; the Western bloc and the eastern bloc. The western block comprised of the United States and its allies who were the NATO and other allies, the Eastern bloc comprised of the-the Soviet Union and its allies located in the Warsaw pact. This rivalry between the two superpowers of the time lasted the greater part of the 20th century. This resulted in both heightened tensions and mutual suspicions incidents that almost led to the brink of disaster between the two worlds superpowers of the time. There are events that link on who was to blame for the start of the cold war.
Traditionally, USSR is to blame for the onset of the cold war. The reason being that the USSR was aggressive, and easily broke the treaties and promised forced its way to expansion into the eastern Europe. Stallins twenty million soldiers died during the second world war. Therefore the expansion towards the Eastern Europe would have served as a buffer zone of the friendly state of USSR, and this would have made sure that USSR would have be immunized against invasions. On the other hand, based on the revisionist theory, the USA was to blame for the cold war. The nation incorporated an ideology in which it isolated and at the same time intimidated Stalin the USSR president. As a nation, the USA saw clearly that the USSR popularity would rise with the expansion towards the Eastern Europe by the Soviet Union.
