James Buchanan is described as the worst president in the history of presidencies in USA. Before president James there was Abraham Lincoln was a phenomenal leader and an icon in American history.
People disrespected him for several reasons, for instance, he was single for the entire life and he almost died of a disease which was spread in his hotel. If James Buchanan did win the election there are several things that would have happened. Firstly, there would be chaos around America because James Buchanan was a great debater and political influencer. In this case James would convince the house of representatives to reinstate him through popular vote in the senate. Being a democratic nominee the wrangle between the two parties would be immense and the country would be at risk of civil war. For the new president, he/she would severe opposition and the government would not have sectional balance. Typically, sectional balance was a strategy established by James Buchanan and its objective was to push the people to accept constitutional laws (Greenstein & Anderson, 2013).
The acceptance of these laws would be the biggest tragedy American could face. Moreover, slaves and people of color would have the opportunity to own properties through the new presupposed president.
