Cloud computing is the access to information technology resources and applications through the pay as you go services. The services provided are Platform as a service, infrastructure as a service and software as a service (Rainer, 2011).

On- demand self-service provides the consumer with the ability to access the services without a need for human interaction. The computing capabilities are automated, so the access is unilateral. Users are only to issue commands (Edwin,2014)
Broad network access allows the consumers to use diverse platforms including phones, tablets, laptops and workstations. The gadgets are encountered in one area to another depending on the use (Edwin,2014).
Resource pooling avails resources to serve a variety of consumers’ demands. The characteristics provide users with a sense of location independence, though, at a higher level the user has to provide details of the resource accessed which may be the center of data, country or state name (Edwin,2014).
Rapid elasticity enables unlimited access provisioned and released services. The capability helps in meeting the demands of the consumers at any instance(Edwin,2014)
Benefits of cloud computing
Availability of the information at the consumer’s disposal develops efficiency in the areas of operation. Cloud enables consumers to get to interact with the components around them. The integration of components with cloud applications updates the user on the requirements of the components(Mullich, 2011).
Users can also their data in the cloud for backup and recovery at any instance needed. Cloud gives a large storage capacity for users. The capacity reduces the need carrying with your storage hardware components that may be risk in case of losses and destruction. Cloud has hence enhanced data security (Mullich, 2011).
Moreover, productivity has increased in companies. Cloud has provided employers with platforms to direct their employees and pass information. Employees, therefore, performs to employer’s expectations (Mullich, 2011).
