Introduction
Cloud computing entails technology used in retrieving files and the usage of simulated applications through the internet. Cloud is a term used to refer to the environment that is internet based that is used in computing. The technology employs the use of web services as a service that is third party in the course of carrying out computing needs (Furht & Escalante 2013). It is an easy and cost-effective way to handle online business’ updates and even maintenance. Traditionally, these services were very complex as they incorporated huge space and memory to store data. However, the introduction of cloud computing has seen these services improved as users can easily plug into the cloud and obtain varied kinds of software services that are needed (Kevin, 2014).
Cloud paradigm examples
There exist different kinds of cloud computing paradigms with similar characteristics. However, variation among them comes with the user allowed in accessing a particular cloud environment (Buyya, Broberg & Gościński 2011).
Public cloud
A public cloud entails a cloud paradigm in which a service provider provides resources to any interested party over the internet. Users in this kind of cloud paradigm are allowed to use the cloud at any time that they feel like without restrictions of being bound by a contract. Usually, the services might be free for use or clients pay according to the usage system. An example of a public cloud is the IBM’s Blue Cloud service. They are always easy to use and cost effectives since all the costs have been covered by the service provider. However, they do not provide control of resources and security (Furht & Escalante 2013).
Private cloud
Private cloud is an exact opposite of public clouds. They are managed from a data centre whereby only the authorized individuals have access to the cloud paradigm. Therefore, it can be asserted that private clouds have security over confidential data and the quality of service is determined by the organisation (Buyya, Broberg & Gościński 2011).
Hybrid cloud
This kind of paradigm incorporates both public and private clouds integrated. When it comes to confidential information, the organisation makes use of the private cloud. On the other hand, the organisation uses public cloud in less confidential information. Charges could be free and at times pay per usage (Furht & Escalante 2013).
Community cloud
This paradigm was developed to resolve challenges experienced in public cloud. It limits access to particular type of users who at times are direct competitors to the organisation. Community cloud paradigm ascertains that members who are not authorised do not get access to resources (Kevin, 2014).
