According to Newton; et al. 2013, intelligence-led policing involves ways of managing crimes and risks after assessing the situations. It requires intelligence officers being in many operational activities towards anti-terrorism in the region. Intelligence-led policing allows police departments to utilize data based on the trends in criminal activities, their frequencies and the nature of the crimes to develop new strategies to fight crime by the distribution of necessary resources.

In intelligence-led policing, police officers are significantly involved. They are the key elements to ensure that the policing method is functional. The police ensure that they get adequate information from the community to ensure that they are able to solve planned crimes and those that have already been committed (Darroch; et al 2013). They check the patterns and ask for some information, analyze it and ensure that they have an idea of the criminal's thinking and realize the next target.

Ratcliffe; et al. highlights that the police have many technologies which they can put in place to fight crime in the states. Apart from setting up emergency calls for people to report crimes, there are other ways of preventing crime. The installation of the photo radar technology and cameras in tall towers in areas of high crime rate ensures surveillance 24/7. The technology can detect stolen vehicles on the roads and identify people over speeding by showing their number plate. The shot shooter detector is another form of technology that can be employed to fight crime. This system detects shots from guns and shows where they are from. It can differentiate between other random sounds and shots from a real gun.
