Clinical psychology is a part of psychology. Clinical psychology is a mixture of clinical comprehension, science and assumptions to prevent, relieve, and understand psychological disorders so as to improve the behavioural benefits and individual development of persons. Clinical psychologists mainly involve themselves in treating mental dysfunctions, behavioural dysfunctions, and emotional dysfunctions. The most common psychological based disorders treated by clinical psychologists include drug abuse such as alcoholism, understanding dysfunction, depression and eagerness. A clinical psychologist is sometimes assigned to work with children or the old people with various disorders. They can also be assigned to diagnose traumatized or stressed patients and those with eating disorders. Clinical psychologists evaluate, identify the dysfunction and then propose the required treatment.
In order for one to become a clinical psychologist one requires a bachelor in clinical psychology that takes four years. After the four years, one may also require additional knowledge by pursuing a master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology. In order for one to get licensed he or she must be approved by the board of state licensing after he or she have met the required requirements. American Psychological Association is one of the professional bodies that supports clinical psychologist. Its mission is to improve the formation, passing and application of the knowledge of psychology to benefit everyone in the society. With all the requirements of being clinical psychologists, work done and the education needed I think it is a good profession to be involved with (Hill, Marcia & Ballou, 2005).
Counselling psychology is a branch of psychology. Counselling psychology is mostly used so as to help the individual to acquire dominance on their feelings. Counselling psychology is an applied psychology that involves various activities which include a process of counselling and outcome, administration and training, career advancement and counselling, avoidance and health. Although clinical and counselling psychology are almost similar clinical since they both deal with treating mental and emotional disorders, they are also different since clinical psychology treats more severe cases but counselling psychology treats patients with more severe problems. In order for one to be issued with a counselling psychology license, one must have attained a bachelor’s, masters or doctorate in psychology, an internship of about one year, and full administrations of 3000hours through exams and experience.
Counselling psychologists acquire education through a graduate program at a period of 4-7 years. This process happens through a bachelors and doctors degree. American Psychological Association is one of the professional bodies that supports counselling psychologist. Its mission is to improve the formation, passing and application of the knowledge of psychology to benefit everyone in the community. Counselling psychology is a good profession to be involved in since one can open his or her counselling job and start your career (Becks A, Davis D, & Freeman A, 2007).
Health psychology is concerned with comprehending how various factors affect healthcare and cause illness and morbidity.
