A global citizen is a person who defines himself/herself as part of the worldwide community that is evolving and strives to contribute to international practices and values. Global citizenship is a matter of considerable debate following a difference of opinion about the correct term to define it. This contributes to varying concepts of global citizenship regarding the theorist's discipline and perspective. However, this variation has not affected the growth of globalization or the desire of people to be global citizens. Globalization has been strongly encouraged by the shift in technologies and the rise of trade, meaning that people have no alternative but to focus on becoming global citizens. The paper aims to define the most suitable definition of global citizenship, examine its significance, and identify ways of achieving global citizenship.
Distinction between "Globalism" and "Globalization"
Globalism is the liberal operation or coordination of economic issues and foreign policy, while globalization is a process of delocalization, the worldwide dispersion of industrial activities (Stucke, 2009). Due to globalism, individuals move from one location to another to seek employment opportunities. Globalization is characterized by the vast growth of multi-national organizations and their investments in foreign nations. For some people, globalization means breathless exploitation by organizations, yet for others, it means bringing sustainable economic growth to the world's people (Stucke, 2009). Globalization's economic processes can be divided into two; free trade and financial globalization. Many nations are compelled to invest directly in banks as their economies have been underestimated for a long time and cause them to establish a modern financial structure where transparency and stability are placed over risks across the world (Stucke, 2009).

Firstly, being a global citizen can empower me to be part of the evolving world. Therefore, I can flourish from my daily interaction with individuals across the globe. Technology advancement has allowed the invention and innovation of improved and efficient phones and computer software over time. I can be able to develop my memory and speed through this type of technology. Technology can also allow me to do fast and productive online analysis. The use of technology in research can increase my academic success. In terms of professional growth, technology can help me network and connect with employers worldwide. I can significantly develop my skills in my career through interaction. Therefore, I can be able to build my personal, academic, and professional goals through globalization.
Why there has been a Disagreement between Theorists about the Definition of Global Citizenship
There is no universal normative definition of global citizenship due to the conflict between scholars focusing on this topic and advancing this concept-based diversity in viewpoints and disciplines. There are a variety of descriptions given by various scholars for global citizenship in this regard. The universal concept contains philosophical theorists emphasizing ethics and values, while education scholars emphasize global consciousness in their definition. The article seeks the importance of incorporating all schools of ideas in developing the global citizenship definition. Global consciousness that refers to one's interconnection with other individuals, a normative community that reflects on individuals and their cultures conveyed by relevant global cultural patterns of citizens, social justice, and valuing diversity are some of the incorporated schools of thought. Global citizenship is thus characterized as care, understanding, and recognition of cultural diversity while maintaining sustainability and social justice, along with a sense of obligation (Reysen & Katzarska-Miller, 2013). In my perspective, I would describe global citizenship as the potential to interact with the community of the developing world by enhancing high global literacy, diversity appreciation, and advocating social justice and responsible activities to all.

According to Baker & Shulsky, a thorough perspective understanding is essential to survive and solve complex problems within a globalized economy. The development of an open-minded, humanly linked, and problem-solving person is rooted in nurturing the seeds of viewpoint knowledge (2020). The universe comprises different people with diverse cultural values, norms, and beliefs. Therefore, one ought to appreciate diverse cultures and strive to value others' cultures to be a global citizen. This helps one interact with others without criticizing them on the grounds of one's culture or expecting them to act in a typical way of one's culture. Therefore, one tends to be accommodative and understand other people's cultures, which promotes human adaptability in a diverse environment.

Social justice refers to perceptions regarding human rights and fair and equitable treatment of all human beings. According to Papastephanou (2005), global citizens work and appreciate the valuing diversity and recognize their role in combating social inequality on a regional and global basis in the broader world. Part of becoming a global citizen involves working for social justice, which entails equality in wealth distribution, privileges, and opportunities allocation within a culture. With this in consideration, across all facets of life, one can improve justice and equality. Social justice, for instance, supports fair racial, educational, and job opportunities. The protection and security of individuals and societies are also significant.
