There are several hundred billion stars in our Milky Way Galaxy. At a conservative estimate, several billion of them are orbited by planets that are capable of supporting life. There may be more habitable planets than there are people on planet earth as scientist argue. However, ‘habitable le does not mean ‘inhabited’. This paper tries to show how intelligent civilization only exists on earth. The reason is linked to a series of comic events that affected both Venus and earth some 600 million years ago. But this part of the story is just one of the astronomical and geographical reasons why the earth is special, and probably unique.
Human beings are a good example of living things that lead an intelligent life. The main question is, does life similar to that led by human beings exist outside planet earth. The billions of planets that scientist and astronomers are harbors presumed living creatures whose lifestyle is unknown to human kind. In elementary school science; pupils normally study the 12 traditional planets in the universe and the 3 planets between the earth and the sun. The determination of intelligent life in other planets remains a big puzzle due to the insufficiency of research to support the argument. The ability of living creatures to reproduce and nurture their offspring to avenues of success is an innate one that may be existent in other planets. However, the mode of learning and appreciation of aspects improving life is a unique characteristic, only witnessed among human beings (Ballesteros, 2010). Human beings are able to evolve to better living forms that best suit their survival while at the same time making planet earth a better place to inhabit. The adoption of technology and other aspects of civilization in alien planets may be, however, existent, but still remains unproven (Aczel, 1998).
According to Gribbin (2011), the universe holds more intelligent life than any other planet on the universe. With advanced research, one may be surprised to find out that other much advanced living creatures exist. The irony would be the similar expression of those creatures referring to human beings as aliens too. Intelligent life that exists in other planets other than earth is known as extraterrestrial life while organisms that exist outside earth are referred to as aliens. It is true that aliens exist, but not in the form and nature by which movies and films present them. Presumably, in the future the relationship between human beings and such will improve, as the levels of enthusiasm to share life with other forms increase and technology advance.
Some philosophical and theological paradigms have followed a similar human exemptionalism. But human beings are exceptional, noting that they share embodiment and embedment in unique ways. Indeed, the embedded location on the earth is intimately connected with who we are as individuals and human society. However, philosophy and theology intend to go further than just the physical environment.
