Describe the Three Principal Distributions of Data
There are three principal distribution of data that includes frequency distribution, probability distribution and recurrence intervals distribution. Recurrence intervals distribution is used to explain randomness on occurrence of events. Frequency distribution is termed as grouping of data with its frequency against the number of occurrence. It is used to describe normal, skewed and uniform distribution. On the other hand, probability distribution shows the number of outcomes in a sample set. It is used to describe normal and uniform data (Acock, 2008).
Central tendency is usually defined as the manner in which numerical data seem to come around a given value. There are several measures of central tendency in statistics. These values describe data by locating a middle position on such set of data. These measures of central tendency include mean, mode and median. Mean is one of the most known measure and it is mostly used in our day-to-day life. Mean is sometimes also referred to as average and it is applied to both data that takes specific value and data that take any infinite values. We get the mean by taking up the sum of the data and dividing it with the number of observations (Walker, 1999).
Mode is usually the popular value in a given set of data and when it occurs that there is no value that is repeated more than one the we conclude that there is no mode. Median is the last central tendency that means the middle value in a set of data. For one to find out the middle value the data is usually arranged in ascending order and then you pick the middle value (McBurney, 2010).
Median is significant when other measurements cannot be used and only ranking the data in order. Statistical significance is the p-value that describes the presumptions of one’s results. They include t-test, z-tests and chi-square tests. For mean, we use t-test and then select the significance level...
