It's true that the world is experiencing an increase in average temperature of the earth's surface. This phenomenon is described as global warming. The high concentration of carbon (IV) oxide in the atmosphere traps heat hence causing heating of the earth. It's real as every scientist is now aware that the world is on its way to destruction of earth's species if proper attention is not paid to reverse the situation. Therefore, this article extensively covers the causes, effects and possible solutions related to global warming.
Climate change is the primary key factors that contribute massively to global warming. This is being caused by human activities such as combustion of fossil fuels which leads to emission of CO2 into the atmosphere (Haughton, 2007). Deforestation and burning them to create the large surface for agricultural activities and poor management of waste materials contributes massively to further emission of gases such as methane and nitrous oxide which are also global warming gases. Factors that affect climate change such as rotation of the earth, the difference in temperatures of the sea and the land. Greenhouse gases such as methane, carbon IV oxide and water vapor allows penetration of solar radiations but does not permit the heat loss from the earth surface. These gases in return absorb the radiated heat from the surface of the earth causing heating of the earth surface. This has caused changes in the ecosystem as some species shift to fit in the environment that suits them. Some become extinct. Agricultural practices such as crop farming and animal keeping has declined due to drought caused atmospheric heating. Food supply has reduced abruptly increasing the cost (Gaughen, 2005). The hot weather causes a lot of diseases such as heat stroke and more skin diseases to the human being. This might result in death and even a lot of complications on human health.Over the several years, there has been an evidence of an increase in sea level and destruction of the coral reef due to atmospheric heating. This happens as a result of melting of the glacier at a higher rate leading to flooding in the coastal regions displacing people from their places of residence. Development of storms, hurricanes and other related natural disasters has also been evidenced due to global warming (Gore, 2006). Early melting of snow makes prediction of the flooding period hectic. Therefore, people lose their life unknowingly.The solutions to this catastrophe must be implemented in order to live in a better environment currently and in the world to come.
