Abstract
For the past century, change in global climate has turned into a widely accepted problem, normally referred to as global warming or the anthropogenic effect of the green house (Speth, 2005). The effect of the green house is when the temperature increases because of the heat of the solar being entrapped in the atmosphere of the earth. Global change in climate is the perceptible increase in the average temperature, in the globe caused by the release of gases from greenhouses that are produced by activities of human beings, responsiveness of this global hazard, toughened the concern of the public with regards to environmental problems and thus provided activists of the environment, makers of policies, and scientists with novel energy in the efforts to promote the protection of the environment (Mora & Maya 2006, p.337).
The main focus of this paper, therefore, is to analyze is to give a social analysis of global warming, how it affects our individual and our occupational lives and the manner in which we relate to the problem.
Introduction
Global warming has had an effect on numerous of places in the world. It causes the sea to rise, and when it does so, the water ends up flooding places especially islands that are low. This turns into a huge problem to a lot of living organisms and people residing in those places (Bogdonoff & Rubin 2007, p 9). When the plants are covered with excessive water, they die and these results to food shortage for animals. They could also lose their dwelling place. This may result to either them vacating their homes or die. This is normally known as a break in the food chain or a reaction of the food chain.
Global warming also affects the sea in a number of other ways too. A lot of occur at sea are connected to global warming. One of these aspects is the water becoming warm as a result of global warming resulting to the destruction of algae. This becomes a problem since there is no adequate food for the animals of the sea (Landler 2007, p. A47).
In general, global warming is doing a lot to the human beings, animals and as well as plants. It is destroying algae; however, it is also causing destruction in numerous, enormous forests. Global warming that is associated with pollution is also known to cause rain that is acidic. This rain is known of causing destruction in almost everything it touches. Global warming is also known for causing wild fires in the forest (Lynas, 2004). This takes place since global warming cause the earth to over heat and in the forest some plants tend to be too dry and end up catching fire.
Global Warming
The issue of global warming is a threat that is looming large and if there is nothing done to bring a stop to it, the world as we see it will stop existing. While human beings continue haphazardly to use up the natural resources, whilst industries are progressively contributing to pollution, while the cutting down of trees with no consideration of their importance in the reduction of the gasses from greenhouses (Flannery, 2005).
Changes globally in the climate have created severe conditions of weather, destroying lives and people’s possessions. The projects of human beings carry on damaging the land, water bodies and atmosphere (Bogdonoff & Rubin 2007, p 10). Any effectual policy structure that protects and manages the natural environment necessitates an incorporated system: a structure of administration set of laws that are sound, technical and methodological acquaintance, intercontinental significance, a facility for exploration and growth, effectual communiqué, the participation of the community and accountable actions from corner to corner of all segments of the general public and government (Abbasi, 2006). Global education seeks to attain the level of proficiency and citizenship in all scholars that will make possible for them to add to the accomplishment of prolongable societies. Through global education, scholars are able to obtain understanding, abilities and approaches to make possible for them to create decisions regarding lifestyles that are maintainable and to participate in the decision making of matters of the environment (Mora & Maya 2006, p.341). They also obtain technological skills linked with ecological management, for instance cost accounting of the environment and analysis of the life cycle.
When global education is integrated into the curriculum of the school, students get to learn on the subject of the environment, the gain skills on how to investigate and solve matters that are related to the environment, they take up characters and practice that safe guard the environment and identify with the philosophy of the development of a sustainable ecology. These policies of global education aim at fostering scholar’s comprehension of the environment as a system that is integrated, and to develop mind sets and skillfulness that are contributing to the accomplishment of the development of sustainable ecology (Flannery, 2005).
The effects of global warming are numerous and interconnected. It affects the environment and as a result, the health of human beings too. As global warming brings destruction to our agricultural production and supply of food, it causes a reduction in our selection of fresh fruits and grocery in our markets thus causing us to opt for unhealthy foods. In addition, with the scarcity of abundant goods has resulted to them being expensive and this brings financial constraints to us (Bogdonoff & Rubin 2007, p 12). With the rate, in which diseases are spreading may result in hometowns being taken over and thus become epidemics that are uncontrollable. The spread of malaria has intensified due to the shift of change in climate the infectious mosquitoes. Also, there has been the reappearance of other diseases and new kinds of infections. These diseases result in the deaths of the people we love, and this affects us abundantly. We are markedly affected by global warming also due to its effect on the economy. The industry of insurance has been seriously affected due to the increase of the rate of losses that are occurring as a result of global warming.
Also, there are different ways in which we contribute to global warming as individuals one being driving our cars, which necessitate the combustion of enormous quantities of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels for thousands of years they have been storing carbon and when cars burn up, the carbon is released at once into the air as carbon dioxide thus contributing to global warming. Another aspect is the acquisition of suburban homes (Bogdonoff & Rubin 2007, p 14). Buying a suburban home whose batch was cleared from trees and vegetation that were storing carbon actively, by them being cut down for the purpose of building homes the stop accumulating carbon and as a result, release it to the atmosphere. Eating meat from the supermarket is
