Introduction
Trauma and stress-related disorders can be defined as those disorders that mostly occur due to exposure to traumatic and stress related situations. Those who suffer from such conditions experience closely related symptoms. The common characteristic of these disorders is that they are associated with the inability to experience pleasure. In fact, almost all of them exhibit imbalanced emotional state, uneasiness, depression, aggression dissociation among much more. These disorders include; reactive attachment disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorders and disinhibited engagement disorder (Yehuda, 2002).
Post-traumatic stress disorder is experienced when a person has been exposed to the shocking or generally scary and dangerous situation. The situation may include; terrible accident, the death of a loved one, assaults such as rape to mention but a few (Keane et.al, 2008). Those who suffer from the disorder experience; upsetting flashbacks, thoughts of the bad experiences and they may dream about the same ordeals. She can no longer accompany her friend to social effects because of the condition. She went on to add that her friends have abandoned. Her father comes late and he is always too tired to even talk to her and therefore she feels alone. To her, sorrow and grief are part of her life. She was in need of urgent help.
The main remedy to this disorder is counselling. The one suffering from the disorder needs moral support. The patient needs to know that at least there is someone who cares and understands her situation. The patient should be provided with counsel on how to do away with the unpleasant experiences and instead concentrate on the positive aspects of their lives. Special techniques can also be used to deal with emotional imbalances. Group therapy can also be helpful. Group therapy will assure the patient that he or she is not alone. This can help deal with her emotional distress. In addition, the patients can also be advised to avoid the situations that make them recall the bad experiences (Bisson, 2007).
In most cases, patients who suffer from the same are reluctant to seek medical attention. Some of them assume that it is normal to experience the aforementioned symptoms once they have experienced scary events. This, in turn, affects their normal life in s...
