Globally, in most cases, humanity believes in the distribution and existence of supernatural beings who promoted the anthropological theory at the beginning of religion. Equally, there are some who do not believe in the existence of these beings. Supernatural beings support the theory of animism. The word animism originated from the Latin word anima (Hunter, 2012). Anima means ‘soul’ or rather life forces, according to Latina’s. The essay seeks to illustrate reasons not to believe in the idea of a soul, being separate from the physical body.
The human body contains no soul or cognizance as we are made up of genes. The human body is made up of bytes of digital material. Humans are simply carriers of data and DNA. The only rational philosophy is that of evolution (Dawkins, 2015). People are as they are because of their genetic makeup, not because of their souls to guide them towards the realm of their ideas but due to evolution. The function of life is the DNA. There is only the endurance of the DNA. There is certainly not a soul which lasts forever. The concept of the soul in the spiritual or intellectual sense strongly detest. The only place for talking about the soul is in a symbolic or allegorical way.
